Updates to Audio Drama: The L.A. Theatre Works Collection

 60 new plays have been added to Audio Drama: The L.A. Theatre Works Collection! This update brings Audio Drama to 241 plays; when complete, it will have 300 plays, and additional scene-level indexing will be coming in 2011. Some of the new additions include:

• Neil Simon's Barefoot In The Park, starring Eric Stoltz and Laura Linney
• Molière's The Misanthrope starring Kevin Gudahl, Hollis Resnik, and Harry Althaus
• Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest starring James Marsters
• Moisés Kaufman's Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde starring Simon Templeman
• Shakespeare's Pericles
• Moss Hart's Light Up the Sky

Also new with this update is Send To Mobile functionality! Now you can take the collection with you by streaming works directly to your mobile device.

Article on QR codes in College & Research Library News

College & Research Library News has just published their November 2010 issue including an article featuring QR codes from Alexander Street Press.

"QR codes and academic libraries: Reaching mobile users," by Robin Ashford (George Fox University librarian and "Librarian by Design" blogger), calls Alexander Street "an innovative library vendor," quotes our President, Stephen Rhind-Tutt, and includes a long explanation of how our Send-to-Mobile functionality works alongside a Music Online screenshot.

New client narratives

Counseling and Psychotherapy Transcripts, Client Narratives, and Reference Works has recently been updated with over 6,000 pages of narratives. The entire collection currently contains over 78,000 pages  illuminating the experience of mental illness and its treatment.

Notable titles in the recent content upload include Purge: Rehab Diaries, When the Piano Stops: A Memoir of Healing from Sexual Abuse, and She Bets Her Life: A True Story of Gambling Addiction.

Counseling and Psychotherapy Transcripts is available to libraries, academic institutions, hospitals, and counseling training facilities worldwide. The March on Washington

This Saturday marks the 47th anniversary of The March on Washington and Martin Luther King's legendary "I Have A Dream" speech. The March was organized to put pressure on Congress to pass civil rights legislation.

Expanded partnership with NINES

In an ongoing effort to improve scholarly access to digital humanities resources, Alexander Street Press has partnered with The Networked Infrastructure for Nineteenth-Century Electronic Scholarship (NINES) and its sister organization, 18thConnect: Eighteenth-Century Scholarship Online, to enable cross-search access to all relevant eighteenth- and nineteenth-century content from Alexander Street online collections, including, most recently, The Romantic Era Redefined.

In addition to The Romantic Era Redefined, other Alexander Street Press collections indexed in the NINES and 18thConnect networks include The American Civil War: Letters and Diaries, Irish Women Poets of the Romantic Period, and Scottish Women Poets of the Romantic Period.
