Christoph Willibald Ritter Von Gluck (1714-1787) was a Bohemian composer whose operas helped the genre come into its own. Through the 1760s, Gluck collaborated with a Tuscan poet, Ranieri Calzabigi, who wrote the libretto for "Orfeo et Euridice."
