Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was an Italian composer. He used the various instruments in the Spring concerto to paint a pastoral image. The solo violin depicts a sleeping shepherd, the orchestral violins represent a quickly-moving stream, and the viola alludes to a vigilant sheepdog.
This recording is performed by the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Jean-Pierre Wallez, soloist.
