Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838) was a pianist and composer and studied piano with Beethoven in Vienna from 1801-1804. He wrote many compositions for piano, including this sonata for flute and piano, often referred to as the Sonate sentimentale.

This recording is performed by Benoit Fromanger (flute) and Alexis Golovin (piano).
